In the caves of southern France they have discovered images of hands that are more than 15,000 years old.
More than 50,000 years ago the natives of Australia also found hands interesting. It is not known exactly how far back in time hand reading was actually practiced.
Modern palm reading comes from China and India. The oldest sources are about 4,500 years old. Palm reading also spread to Egypt, where it is mentioned in Papyrus from approximately 1,500 b.c.e. From there it also spread to Greece.
You can read more about the story of hand reading in my book Life in your hand which is published by Lemuls books.
