Indians in America made images of hands.
In the caves of southern France images were found of hands that are about 15,000 years old.
More than 50,000 years ago the natives of Australia also found hands interesting. How far back in time hand reading was actually practiced is not known precisely.
Modern hand reading comes from China and India. The oldest sources are about 4,500 years old. Hand reading also spread to Egypt, where it is mentioned in Papyrus from approximately 1,500 b.c.e. From there it also spread to Greece.
You can read more about the story of hand reading in my book Life in your hand which is published by Lemuls books.
